About Worker's Compensation

What is Workers Compensation?
Workers Compensation is a benefit that helps an injured person through a work-related injury or illness. Generally, it covers a portion of a worker's wages, as well as medical or therapy costs. Sometimes, workers compensation also pays for jobsite or duty modifications to help a worker get back to work sooner.

Who's Eligible?
In-home providers who are publicly-funded (Community Options, MPC, Chore and Respite) are eligible for workers compensation benefits. See RCW 74.39A.240(4).

Who Handles Injury Claims?
HCQA has hired a Third Party Administrator (TPA) to manage workers compensation claims.  The TPA, Sedgwick CMS, works with the Department of Labor and Industries to manage all in-home provider claims. Contact Sedgwick CMS on how to file a work-related injury or illness claim.
