How the Referral Regsitry Helps Others...
A Match Made In Heaven
Robert ‘Sarge’ Stevens of Vancouver, Washington understands the value of the new Home Care Referral Registry (HCRR) for Southwest Washington. Stevens inherited his childhood home several years ago. Having lived there for nearly 65 years, he absolutely couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
He also couldn’t imagine hiring an Individual Provider without the screening and assistance of the HCRR hosted by CDM Services.
Stevens served several years as a Sergeant Major in the Infantry Marine Corps, and had been very independent until he had a stroke seven years ago. To his dismay, he was placed in a nursing home for nearly a year. Back in his home, a close friend was able to provide care, but there came a time when professional help was needed. Since he had never hired a caregiver, ‘Sarge’ didn’t know where to start. His Case Manger referred him to the HCRR and Coordinator Diana McIntyre. Upon speaking with Diana, Stevens said “I knew my worries were over”.
Diana helped Stevens through the application process, gave him a list of caregivers to interview, and even helped him interview them in his home. Karen Revell (shown above in photo with Stevens) was his clear choice, an experienced caregiver and a perfect complement to his personality. “We’re a match made in Heaven” he says, “She knows exactly what needs to be done”.
‘Sarge’ Stevens is very grateful for the Home Care Referral Registry at CDM Services and his wonderful caregiver that became the first ‘match’ for the program here in Southwest Washington.
